Economic Diplomacy
Economic Diplomacy at the Consulate-General focuses on developing investment projects or programs with direct link to the Government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID). This initiative is intended to promote economic, trade and investment opportunities across all sectors of the government to include but not limited to (Agriculture, Roads and Infrastructure, Rule of Law, Education and Technology, Small Businesses initiatives, Mining, Sanitation and Health, and Tourism, etc.) by fostering and promoting stronger partnerships with the host country investment climate. Economic diplomatic efforts will seek to build and strengthen partnerships with Government of Liberia’s sector ministries, agencies, and commissions (MACs) to promote sustainable economic growth and development; and create jobs in the private sector of the Republic of Liberia.
Major Engagements:
- Laise with the Consul General to develop measurable policy programs within the context of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) to promote economic growth and development in the Republic of Liberia.
- Forster stronger economic, commercial, cultural, trade, investment and technical cooperation and partnerships with the host country’s economic organs such as the City Major Office in New York, the Chamber of Commerce, The New York Consular Corps, and the US Office of Foreign Missions (OFM).
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for business and economic cooperation, including organizing trade missions or delegations and conduct or hold investment forums to highlight Liberia’ economic potentials.
- Laise with the National Investment Commission and other relevant Government MACS to develop and promote Liberia’s potential in tourism in the New York.
- Monitor and report on global economic trends and developments that could impact Liberia’s economic interests.
- Promote Liberia’s economic interest, including trade, investment, and tourism opportunities, by identifying and pursuing strategic partnership and facilitating business delegations in these sectors, etc.
- Coordinate with the relevant business stakeholders in Liberia and New York to organize trade fairs, exhibitions, and other promotional events to display Liberian products and services.
- Develop and maintain stronger economic and commercial relations with the host country and other accredited nations near New York, to scale up bilateral engagement seeking to secure economic and investment opportunities in educational advancement in science and technology.
